Spurious Red Restricted Performance - No fault code on GAP!

Jumped into the car this afternoon, fired it up and got a red restricted performance right away!

Switched off, switched on (ignition only) and it's still there. Fired her up, put it into Drive and sure enough, it wouldn't rev past 1500rpm.

Plugged in the GAP tool, read the fault codes and, to my surprise, there was nothing out of the ordinary in there. More importantly, there was nothing showing for today's date!

I didn't clear the codes. Got out, locked the car and enjoyed the (rare) sunshine for a minute. Unlocked the car, got back in and fired it up without any problems. Went for a Boxing Day drive of about 50 miles without any issues. The car is perfectly fine and before anyone suggests it, the battery is in tip top condition.

This has now happened three times in about thirty months. Just wondering if anyone else has ever had a spurious warning like this? The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

What errors were there though ?

Things like communication errors and blah blah might not necessary jump out as being engine/performance related, but might be enough to flag the car that it should restrict performance on start up? V8 or else ...

The usual blah blah comms errors and the standard engine fault which has been present for years.

The point is, there was no fault present which was dated today. The car was used yesterday for 100+ miles. The last fault logged was a comms error (drivers door mirror) on the 23rd of December. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

See if it returns or not. The occasional errors on a cold start and drop in voltage, triggering a random error do happen.

Being a 4.4 TDV8, as is a usual course of servicing, check for intake leaks on the 4x donut hoses, top charge hoses and throttle body union seal, and make sure the MAP sensor is clean. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8
