5.0 Supercharger engine tuning / pulley mod / remap

I have been doing a little research, on the sports cats, pulley mod and remaps offered by different people. I came across this video....

http://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-x351-...on-125703/

A lot less involved than I thought, or perhaps as with all these types of video, it is harder than it looks.

So basically, if you could find the right puller, and one of these...

http://powerhouse.uk/content/jaguar-perfor...ulleys.php

that makes it quite a cheap upgrade; £7.50 / bhp!.....mmm man maths works. 2010 5.0 SC Autobiography

Most supercharger pulleys are easy to replace you also need to think about the fueling,Map and cooling as you will be pushing a lot more air in and running the supercharger faster it will heat up the intake air temp,if only everything was a simple as a ecu tuning company makes out

Absolutely, its a slippery slope.

Anyone had any experience with these people http://www.paramount-performance.com/Jaguar/

Apparently they are a sister company to these people http://www.viezu.com/ and the map comes from them.

They are offering a pulley and remap for £995 inc VAT, seems very reasonable, I think DMS were double that. They are quoting 45 bhp and 45 lbs / ft of torque for the remap and 20 bhp and 20 lbs / ft of torque for the pulley as its only a 6% pulley. A sports cat back exhaust is £1000 plus VAT

I need to do some more research. 2010 5.0 SC Autobiography

I cannot comment on the 5.0 but my 4.2 SC received a new pulley and remap by a Jaguar specialist over two years ago and it has transformed the performance. OK, so a 4.2 in standard tune is reasonably quick but the modifications really improve things with a large increase in torque from tickover and far quicker response mid-range.

I imagine the 5.0 changes will be even more marked.

Cost for me was about the same back then. Well worth doing, in my view. Thumbs Up Si. <This is my name.

Who did you use if you don't mind me asking?

So far for the Supercharged engine, the companies I have found are:

Paramount - http://www.paramount-performance.com/Range-Rover/

DMS - http://www.dmsautomotive.com/performance-u...=landrover

JE Engineering - http://www.jeengineering.co.uk/je-performa...ver-models

Does anyone know any others I should look at?

I will get some prices and update this thread as I go along. 2010 5.0 SC Autobiography

I used TL Jaguar in Arborfield.

We use them on our S-Type as well and have been pleased with their service. They're familiar with the pulley modification on the RR Jaguar engine.

As I have been researching mods for the 5 litre engine, the issue of a map for the gearbox has come up.

These have emailed me offering a gearbox remap along side the engine remap. http://www.jfautomotive.co.uk/ecu-remapping/gearbox-tuning/

Has anyone had this done on a petrol car? In the search I can see that it has been done on the smaller diesel engine. A nice crisp change using the paddle shift would be good. 2010 5.0 SC Autobiography

Anyone one used these sports cats before?

Anyone used these before, seem cheap and I guess that you don't know the quality of the cat inside, but they are stainless.

i think the standard ones are stainless. It's just the heat they have to deal with turns them brown in no time. The stainless manifold on my mini went brown pretty quickly.

If you add a sports cat you will most likely need an adaptor for the Lambda sensors as the extra flow screws up the readings and sets off an engine management light

^ I'm fairly sure Paramount take care of that in their remap if you have the sports cats from them. Their cats certainly don't bring on the EML Thumbs Up

The remap and pulley mod from Paramount was reasonable at £995 supplied and fitted including VAT, but they wanted £1600 just for the sports cats, although that was including fitting. I was wondering whether I could give them these cats instead although the cat matrix might be rubbish. 2010 5.0 SC Autobiography

I have just read the description and see what they are for. Hopefully the remap would take car of that but I see what you mean, thanks. 2010 5.0 SC Autobiography

Holy thread revival Smile But hey at least I searched instead of just opening up another one...

So my L322 5.0v8 s/c got a nice clean bill of health following a gearbox flush, s/c oil changes, diffs etc. Afterwards (after I paid them for the service), we started chatting and they asked whether I considered a remap. The suggestion was that a remap would provide a little bit more power and better fuel economy, or if I really wanted to they could do the supercharger pulley mod with a remap and really take it up several notches.

Has anyone actually done that on these and can share some experiences with me? Sure the standard 510Hp is nice but we are in the era of the last of the V8s to quote Mad Max. Part of me is considering to have my last bit of proper fun before it will be EV only...
