A friend of mine has asked me my thoughts on this car. Now SV's aren't my thing at all although I can appreciate them. L322's and Series 3's are my thing.

Avoiding the shocking feedback I've read about Saxton 4x4, I'd be interested if anyone knows or recognises the 2019 registered L405 SVA-D in the link - reg is AE69 NUU.

Full Fat SV's seem rare enough that I'm hoping there may be some history through the forum. I have advised him of Saxton's feedback and we will certainly do our due diligence using the various HPI and other history checks available. There is a slight mileage inconsistency with the MOT history and the lazy advert on AutoTrader but that will no doubt explain itself if/ when we start our own history checks.

So in short, if anyone on here knows or recognises the vehicle, please let me know.

Due to increasing thefts and insurance hikes its a buyers market as prices are about to crash.

According to the url on Autotrader's website that car has been for sale since 24 Feb, 23. Saxton might have paid a bit more for it than today's trade price. 2017 SDV8 Autobiography

I'm amazed but the values of these things and it's an interesting difference £75k vs £58k. Current vehicles:

I have visited Saxtons a couple of times in the last few months and I must say that their showroom and cars are a very good standard.
As for the motorway price try to buy one for that and let me know please. overfinch modified

Like I said it's the price they will give you if you were to sell it. They collect and give you the money, no worries about px etc. WBAC do the same etc etc

Of course not the price you want to see as an owner, but gives you a base line value.
Of course dealers need to make money, in my view £75k is, way to much money and the reflection on how long its been for sale backs up that view.

Interesting on values as they seem to have been all over the place over the last 3 years. They appeared (from asking prices) to go up about 10k in the year following when I bought mine (2/21) since then they've been gradually falling again...and I've noticed that the fall has accellerated over the last 6 months. In round numbers they would have been about £150k new so £75 is half price in 4 years. That's strong - in the old pre-covid market I saw around a 50% loss every 3 years so on that scale, the Autotrader price looks close. While I would never buy from them, Saxton have a significant percentage of the UK stock of these and comparing to the main stealers are usually well priced. You just need to hope you never need any after sales support. Mike - MPx

Vehicle looks great.

Not sure whether the values quoted from Autotrader and Motorway includes what, in South Africa, would have been extras, for example the SVO premium paint, rear executive individual seating, pixel-laser headlights, powered gesture tailgate (bootlid), etc. The addition of the afore-mentioned items could easily adds up to around GBP10000, if not more - this is based on rough translation from ZAR to GBP. When this is added to the Autotrader value, then the price does not seem to be so exorbitant.

Insurance costs and resale value. I personally do not consider it when I buy vehicles as for me it is about the enjoyment that I get from driving these vehicles. In fact in South Africa, theft of Toyotas and Volkswagens are highest risk; yet these brands are the top sellers and resale value are apparently the best, especially the Toyotas. However, these are the last vehicles that come to mind when I buy vehicles.

If your vehicle does not force you to look back at when you walk away from it - then you should not buy it - this is my philosophy. Also, why it took me more than 3 years to buy the RR SVAB and still keeping the L322, even though the L322 is almost 17 years' old.

Currently there are no SVA-D on sale in South Africa; however, there are SVA LWBs (ZAR in brackets) on sale:

- 2017 @ GBP84309 (R1 999 000)
- 2020 @ GBP109602 (R2 599 000)
- 2020 @ GBP 126463 (R2 999 000)

In light of the above, the SVA-D seems to be a bargain

As an update to this thread, my friend went to check the insurance to make sure he'd be able to insure it and due to where he lives in London, most insurance companies refused to insure it or were quoting £6k plus.

He's bought another car instead. Current vehicles:
