Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season PNCS and a WARNING

Had a set of these fitted yesterday. Done about 100mi on them so far and echoing other sentiments here, I can say they are a gamechanger with the PNCS marker. They really are incredibly quiet.

Roadholding and ride are good, noise level excellent, and on a route I do regularly I'm seeing an improvement in OBC fuel consumption - will monitor that over the next month and 2.5K miles I'll do.

Now a warning. The car previously had a set of 'dealer special' tyres - the two rears being 'Davanti'. I was intending to replace them all with a decent set and the rears being pretty worn gave me an excuse.

I was a little perturbed to see the inner sidewall of one of the rears like a balloon almost all the way around the circumference. I've seen bulges like this before but never all round - and normally there's damage or being run underinflated to blame. I know they were fine about 3K miles ago when I had the rear wheels off, so this has happened in the last month or so. There's been no incidents, and there was no visible signs of damage or underinflation on the tyre, so it looks like a fault in the carcase.

So, you get what you pay for. Cheap and nasty rubber on a ~3T vehicle is a bad idea.

I’ve just done the same through Kwikfit as you get 10% off at the moment. Tyres and fitting along with tracking came to £930 with a saving of £280.

Also exactly the same as me - Kwik-fit on the drive, great service. Tyres were £240 each, mobile fitting £15. Balancing £9, valves £6.50, tyre disposal £3

I too made use of a discount code that was on there at the time of booking

It was a bit of a weird booking as I had to have one replaced as an emergency on holiday in France a few hundred miles earlier so I got three fitted on the drive (with the details above) for £790.50 FFRR SDV8 Autobiography

I had PCNS Zero on my L322 and hands down probably the best thing I did to it. Road surface dependant, you could be doing high motorway speeds and have almost zero tyre noise in the cabin, really enhanced refinement.

They also felt nice and sticky in warmer weather and gripped well

As popular as it is to bash dealers, we (and this applies to the whole of the group I work for) don't fit any tyres of a brand that are not fitted by the vehicle manufacturer. Most likely they were fitted by the previous owner, we get a lot of trade-ins with Chinese ditch-finders fitted - and I've seen Davanti tyres do that on a much lighter car too.

I've recently bought 4 Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season 275/40 R22 108Y LR PNCS from National Tyres (Halfords) fitted on site for £1010 including a 15% online discount - which was cheaper than I could get them with staff discount!

Is there a slight downside with PNCS inasmuch as a puncture cannot be repaired? It has happened to me, twice.

The brand I work for doesn't use a lot of PNCS, our tyre monkey does repair them, essentialy, the foam has to be cut out of the affected area enough to allow cleaning & abrading for the plug to fit. I wouldn't have though it'll increase tyre noise appreciably.

It's a good job there's only one dealer group in the UK then, so I can retract my libellous statement aboht dealers.

No reason a PNCS tyre cannot be repaired, manufacturers give specific guidance on how to do so.

Tyre retailers who say they can't be repaired either haven't bothered to read the guidance or don't want to perform the repair... Or the puncture couldn't be repaired for other reasons. 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.
