Im half way through my quest to save the family car from the scrapper. It failed its NCT on corrosion of the rear subframe and jacking points (usual L322 spots).

Ive spent the past few weeks rebuilding the jacking points and stripping out the rear subframe. I managed to get a mint condition rear subframe and set of 4 control arms off a Spanish car.

All was progressing nicely until today. Ive turned my attention to the underbody of the car which is all hidden when the subframe is in place. Unfortunately the two front most mouting turrets for the subframe are rotten. The housing inside the turrets for the large subframe bolts is actually is very good condition. Its just the "outer skin" of the turret thats rotten. To get to point my question is can these turret cups (for want of a better description) be purchased from Land Rover.

Thanks Haylands. Its hard to say from the drawing if the turret cup is included in this repair panel but yes it does appear to be correct looking at the car. The "turret cup" appears to be a relatively small piece spot welded on to this panel. I was hoping it would be available seperately.

Tomorrow I will do a bit more cleaning up of the area with the wire wheel and perhaps I might get the sandblaster out aswell to clarify whats what. Everything looks much clearer when the area is cleaned of rust and dirt. Ill stick a few more pics up afterwards. 2002 TD6 Epsom Green

Apologies for the slow update but things have started to spiral. Im chasing rust at the moment and dont know where to stop. Still not sure what to do about the subframe mounting points so Im putting off the decision by tackling rust elsewhere and removing everything that gets in my way. The bumper bar/tow bar is next to come off.

Somebody say something inspirational to keep me going please.

I wish I could offer more inspiration but genuinely, saving your RR from its grave is something very few if anyone could do so the sense of achievement when you get it through its test would be special. Also you will have a car with a solid foundation for years to come.
