Solar panel to top up battery...

OK, so it's not actually for a 405... the old Renault Scenic we have at our place in Spain sits unused for many months in a field by the airport, it's a great service, they wash the car, top the tyres up and charge the battery before we get there, and pick you up from the airport.

I was wondering if it would be worth while using a small solar panel to keep the battery topped up and prevent it from dying prematurely from deep cycles.....

But.... not sure how big a panel I would need to make it worthwhile, they do get 320 days of sunshine a year so plenty of sun

Anyone use one in a similar scenario....

Cheers Pete

Used one on my L322 - make sure the output is >12.5VDC or there's no point...
Otherwise, worked great, even a noticeable difference in winter.

ETA - this one, although now not available https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B099RW7WF6

@Pete:

Yes, as Pheonix says, a great idea, I used one on my TVR Griffith 20 years ago, the infrequent use and turning over a big 5.0V8 wasn’t kind to batteries. It seemed to work, but I’ve no idea if it was significant, or just placebo effect, lol! Do you use a dashboard cover or windscreen sunshield?
In my Wildtrak, I use an American “HeatShield” product, which works really well to protect the interior, as its always parked facing South. Thumbs Up “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Cheers chaps, I'll take a look at some, and yes we use a sun shield, at least it's white so the paint doesn't bake too much... Thumbs Up Pete

Unfortunately I have to connect to the terminals under the bonnet as all of the cigar lighter sockets on my Range Rovers are controlled by the ignition switch. Range Rover 4.2 SC
