United States 2009 Range Rover Autobiography 4.2 SC V8 Bournville
Oil Temperature Sensor Unit

Hi everyone,

The engine oil temperature sensor on my '09 L322 supercharged is leaking a bit of oil.

I looked up the part and just now double checked it and the part number is LR065234 (4603183). I ordered the replacement unit and just got it but the new one doesn't have any threads!

Has anyone had this issue?

I just looked up the part again from the Land Rover dealer where I ordered it and got the same part number.

It appears that there are two variations of the same part. Is this possible or have I made some really stupid error?

Thanks!

As a temporary fix, wrap some pts tape around the thread to stop any oil leaking. 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!

Fox889,

Thanks for the idea but I believe it's leaking from around the top. If it was leaking from around the threads I could just tighten it.

I called the place where I ordered it. The guy there looked up the part they sent, 4603183, and confirmed that it's the wrong part. The correct part for me is LR065234, which is the part I originally ordered! UGH!

He checked and while this is officially a discontinued part they do have one in stock and he'll hold it for my replacement order.

If they send the correct part this time, then it seems to be solved. I can mark the original shipping box, "Return to Sender" and the post office will get it back to them at no cost to me.

Thanks for the help!
