Rear Traffic and Blind Spot Monitors

Can anyone confirm that both these systems use the same rectangular sensors in the sides of the rear bumper?

Correct same sensors, just coding. L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division.

Thanks - after a minor knock to back bumper, I have error messages saying both systems are unavailable (and a permanent orange dot in both mirrors). There’s a bit of a mark on the back of the nearside rear bumper sensor, so I’m assuming that’s the cause.

Ideally you want to check for fault codes to see whether it's an internal fault with the radar unit or alignment as I seem to recall the fixings and bracketry are quite fragile.

Hope this helps L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division.

Thanks. Basic scan just identifies the fault (apparently), but not the specific sensor or location. I’ll have to find somewhere with diagnostics, I expect.

Get it up on a ramp, chances are the RADAR is out of it's bracket and needs re-fitting, if you're lucky it'll re-calibrate itself, if not, there are many non-dealer options for recalibration.

The code to look for is U3000-78, Control Module - Alignment or adjustment incorrect, any other code is comms faults or internal failure.

If as above you will need to :- If the DTC is cleared, a test drive of at least 40 minutes duration is required in order to confirm that the fault is rectified (the DTC will not set again prior to this interval).

If it doesn't reset, then its time for a replacement, as Phoenix said, check it is securely mounted.

Good luck! L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division.

Thanks both, very helpful - the maybe-damaged unit has been off and swapped to the other side - still the same symptoms. I’ll check the error code.

Does anyone know if these sensors need coding to the car (ie will a used one plug in and just work, assuming codes cleared)?

It depends, if it's a used one, it'll need coding - if it's new, it will have the VIN & config pushed to it - both will need calibration though.

I also have this problem. I took mine to an indie this morning (l405 2015 AB ) and turns out the right hand bumper camera has a hairline crack so in turn had the blind spot and rear traffic msg. So I would suggest checking all cameras are ok. My cameras are all working apart from the crack. Now waiting to see if the garage I bought it from are going to take care of the bill . ( £789.00 ) 😳

I don't see how, the front bumper cameras are not used by the blind spot monitoring - they face the wrong way for a start.

Apparently they used a scan diagnostic and it came up with right hand front module which they said was the camara . They also said they have done one once before. This is a Land Rover specialist indie with excellent reputation. So I can only go by what I was told. If I get the go ahead for them to fix it I will keep you all posted .
