Be interesting to see if that ever happened with an 06 plate to a 55 plate- would cost the DVLA a couple of hundred a year.

It's based on the date of registration, not the plate the car carries.
The date that the more expensive road tax started was 22nd or 23rd of March 2006. Not the start of the 06 plates.
So some 06 plates are £260 and some are £460. Thumbs Up

Speed limit is easier too.
Maximum speed limit is 35mph (56kph).

Mind you, fall over twice and you're at the other end of the island, so fuel cost is pretty irrelevent. People must fill up once a year! Laughing

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Bonatti Grey

probably used to costing 25-35p/litre less than UK prices...

Being so small cant imagine a ny FFRR ever getting over 25mpg as the engines would hardly warm up...

Then again on such a small island why bother with a car when a bike would be quicker lol

Guernsey

Jacksons / Motormall like to think they are Landrover Dealers, but part of a multi franchise setup.

The downside is fuel economy on the Island, all stop start max 35mph Whistle Whistle

Wifes car did around 27mpg in guernsey and 40mpg in UK

RRS returned around 18-19 on Island

Crying because only go back every few weeks now (with as many cans as I can)

The biggest pain is UK insurance about 2/3 thirds more than in Guernsey, mainly due to much lower risk on being sued for millions of pounds after an accident in Guernsey.

For example, you could have a 2007 model year car built in late 2006, but registered as a '56 plate - so three different numbers to contend with!

That's what mine is. It was registered on the 27th of December 2006, so is a 56 plate, but is a model year 2007. Some people advertise it as a 2007 so as to highlight the fact it's the newer model year. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey
