Tyre Pressure Monitoring Problems

Does anybody know if this pointless system can be turned off !!?? Permantley!


I have had so many problems with my tyre pressure sytem on my Range Rover.
Its been in an out of the dealership so many times now, they have re-calibrated it, re-set it you name it they have done it.
I have even paid for 4 new sensors and had them fitted and calibrated and it still flashes on !

All I want is the system turned off, I dont care about it I will know if I have a puncture !

Can Anybody help ?

How about you just get it fixed so that it works as intended?

If you're taking it to a dealer and they have not fixed then why are you paying them!? Perhaps take it to a dealer than knows what they're doing?

Well nine of my visits to the dealer have been under warranty so I havent had to pay,
apart from the last visit when I purchased 4 new sensors.
I just want it turned off for ever !

Ask them to remove all sensors and the ECU - then I'll buy it off you.

do you think it will still comee up on the instrument display "tyre pressure monitoring fault" even with sensors and ecu removed ?

I have a feeling that if you disconnect the ECU then you wont get the error message as it's the ECU that sends the message to the instrument pack.

From memory the TPMS ECU is under the passenger seat, but I may be wrong and I CBA to look in the workshop manual.

Won't help , but I do sympathise. Biggest heap of crap invented. Just discourages proper regular visual checks of tyres. Throws so many faults it creates a "cry wolf" scenario.

Got them on a Laguna, different league, same crap.

Mine is disconnected - done by the previous owner; don't know how, but I do have normal tyre valves.

So whether the valves alone being replaced has turned it off, or whether some other stuff had to be done to the ECU, I have no idea. Java with Ivory 2006 4.2 Supercharged. 23.5k miles - NOW SOLD!

FYI: I was told by my dealer that if tire pressure monitors have been removed and reinstalled more than
twice, as I recently had to do dealing with wheel refinishing, the gaskets had to be replaced as part of a kit that
costs $79 US per wheel. My tire dealer was able to locate the rubber O ring gaskets that are apparently made by Ford that cost about 90 cents each, which we used.

Stratstone of Mayfair I believe. They undertook all servicing prior to me buying the car. Java with Ivory 2006 4.2 Supercharged. 23.5k miles - NOW SOLD!

does anyone know what the tolerance of the TPMS system is? I found that if the tyres are too hard it also causes a "system error" (no specific wheel indicated). I played around with pressures, but if you deviate by more than about 10kpa either up or down, it seems to get the system error.
I had a "left rear tyre soft" error last week, and it was a true fault, the tyre was indeed at about 150kpa (normal for light load is 250 I think)
I looked at the settings in the CCF with my faultmate, and there are lots of parameters you can add for allowed deviation high and low, but most of them were set at "0", will try play around when I get time, just wondered if anyone knows the "standard" allowed deviation.

My spare has the fault.......dealer offered to disable the monitoring for it, for $35.do not disconnect any ecu.....you will cause other problems 2006 RR 4.4 HSE
