Under bonnet rubber seals

Hello all,

After years of talking about it, then weeks of reading through this forum and watching youtube videos, myself and my partner purchased an L322.

Its a 2007 3.6 TDV8 Vogue SE in Stornoway Grey.

I plan to post more etc once I sort out a few immediate issues.
One of those issues, is a lose scuttle panel with missing clips – Part number CYC000010 – which I will get from my local LR dealer – they can have them in next day, so as with being in Ireland it makes most sense.

Anyway, a part, or missing part,I am having trouble with is the rubber seals around the pinch welded sections that seal when the bonnet is closed.

I have looked at videos and pictures on line and some appear to:
- Have nothing (like mine)
- Others appear to have a short section of rubber (like the nearside on mine)
- Others have a strip from the start of the battery compartment right the way down to the end of the bonnet

I have what I thought was the correct part number CJE000052 but now it may look like it is in fact CJE000063

Does anyone have any idea why I am seeing such a difference in pictures and videos? Is it a common part to go missing?

I am seeing some water on top of the battery and it is from the windscreen run off over topping the lip as there is no rubber……

Any help is very much appreciated

Welcome to the club...

Ran fatty offroader for years without any, didn't seem to make any difference and I thought it helped with under bonnet venting...

You could use a generic seal, just put a "column" of blue tack along the top edge, close the bonnet and it will flatten to the height you require, well add a few mm to get some squish.... Thumbs Up

Or message Robin at Duckworths, our site sponser, he will know from your vin and give you a good discount with free postage (hopefully to Ireland !!) Pete

Thanks Haylands, appreciate the reply.

I did think of some generic type of sealing strip but wanted to see what other thought...

I have seen water top the rim into the battery compartment, infact, it had dripped directly on to the terminal.

Also when opening the bonnet, water makes its way into the compartment, is this "normal" ?

If anyone has a link to a generic seal that might do the trick, it would be much appreciated

Thanks once again

I think it's more for sound insulation than any kind of engine protection from water unless you are wading through deep water and have a bow wave washing over the bonnet. Mine are perished and falling apart. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

A quick search online of CJE00052 suggested it's a 30cm length. CJE00053 states 100cm, however the parts catalogue shows the part you have is defined by chassis number:
