On a recent service, my trusted Indy said that I had a fault code indicating that the Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor had failed, and needed replacing to fix the fault code.

He has done the job, but the fault will not clear.

He has told me that after calling around his colleagues in similar LR repair garages, using the same scanning tool, it would appear that his fault reading scanner is at fault itself. it indicated that the above mentioned part was faulty when it was not. Apparently other establishments have encountered the same problem. He showed me a longish article that he found online detailing the fault reading problem.


The true fault is another sensor on the right hand bank of the engine, this will have to be changed as well if I want the fault code cleared.

I do believe him, he has never failed me over several years of service.

Has anyone heard of this happening ? 2013 SDV8 4.4 SE Luxor.
