SDD - what kit is actually required?

Hoping someone can decipher how to get myself up and running with SDD as some of the WM procedures require it to run certain procedures that GAP tool can’t.

Looking on eBay, there’s everything from laptops with it running to CDs with a cable and prices are all over the place from thousands to £50.

What do I actually need to get up and running with SDD?
Is there a difference between SDD setups or are they all basically the same thing?

Grateful if someone in the know can enlighten me! TYIA 👍 Andy

I bought this cable:

https://www.eobdtool.co.uk/wholesale/jlr-m...rover.html

It came with a CD included (you can find online SDD downloads too).

I then run it on a Windows 10 32-bit Dell laptop.

SDD isn’t particularly intuitive to use though and can be a pain in the backside.

What is it you want to do that you can’t do with the IID tool? I’ve not come across much the IID tool can’t handle yet and would much rather use it then SDD.

Thanks for confirming David.

I’m trying to run the routine described in the top DTC row below whilst troubleshooting my EGR issue. I’m actually getting the P0245-64 code (not the P0245-13) but figured that the dynamic test would confirm the system is operating within expected parameters and I could then rule out a number of things getting to the bottom of it, before checking the data logger signals for the cooler bypass duty cycle as described in the second row relating to my fault.

I also figured it would be a useful tool generally as, whilst GAP is very capable for most uses, there is a certain benefit to SDD for someone who wants to be able to tackle most jobs on the car as and when.
