Australia 2003 Range Rover HSE Td6 Epsom Green
starting problem

Beast 03 TD6 with a 4 yr old LITHIUM starter battery(itechworld.com.au)
Last few weeks there's been a slight lag(1-3sec) between key and when the starter motor spins the engine.
Today its turn the key--nothing, turn off turn on beast starts properly.
After a 60klm run with 2 stops, both times had to off-on to get it to fire.
Battery showing 13.53v so it has enough juice in it.
Checked all the connection points - there all nice and tight.
Popped down the road to get some degreaser and it fired up straight away Rolling Eyes
So what else would I be looking for that would be causing my issue eg starter motor, ignition barrel etc, etc.
Also spoke to people who make the battery and they said it should last between 4 to 9 years.
Going by the voltage after my run I think I got another 1-3 years of life in it.
I normally go for a hwy run if I been down the local shops as its
a) diesel
b) LR diesels dont like short runs
c) they have LOTS of electricals in them to flatten battery at the slighest opportunity lol
d) its a rangie lol
Any help greatfully appreciated

cheers

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Zermatt Silver

Similar happened on my 2006.
Occasional start failure, no click from stater motor, nothing, but steering wheel dropped into position and all other functions worked perfectly.

It went from occasional to having to take the key out and back in several times before it would start.
At time when it failed I could hear a barely discernible electronic noise from the centre console.

Before buying a ignition switch ( the plastic electrical section located on the bottom of the key barrel )
I checked all wiring ie battery / stater motor / earth connections and an excellent auto electrical guy checked the starter motor for me to rule those out. Changing the ignition switch immediately resolved the issue.

Not too bad a job to do, use the below link for an excellent how to guide from this site and have a car trim tool kit on hand to make it easier. Hope this helps.
