My TD6 has a low power issue and what i think is a slight turbo wine. No codes relating to turbo or anything relatable.

I cant see any movement on the actuator- correct me if wrong but when started up it should move outboard ie towards the wing? I have no movement at all that i can see of course it could be stuck but wanted to make sure i have vacuum in the first place..

Before i go down the route of considering replacement turbo reconditioning. I wanted to make sure i have vacuum.

The main vacuum hose into front of the resevoir when pulled off has what i consider reasonable suction, i have to say the hose looks ropey several areas of wear as it goes across the engine and disappears under the EGR valve body but it appears to be causing vacuum which is a good thing.. It will need replacing but i cant find the other end. ANyone shed any light on where it goes.

BUT my main point is when i take off the hose at the other end of the reservoir, i would say there is very little suction, in my mind its just a reservoir so suction should be the same?

Then when i take off the hose that leads down to the turbo actuator similarly there is little suction.

is there any trickery inside the reservoir that reduces vacuum or am i correct that it should be the same or even amplified?

Any help or thought would be great.

Also how do i check the solenoid to make sure thats functioning as it should.

I had the vacuum hose replaced recently as it had been on since the car was built (03)
The difference in how the car responds is remarkable.
I believe the hose goes from the EGR to the turbo,but dont quote me.
I'd get it done sooner rather than waiting for the car to die a slow death.
Got my mechanic to do it,hose doesnt cost all that much.

Update:

So managed to figure out that the vacuum tank is simply a empty space, my short hose from tank to solenoid wasn't sealing so fixed that, then the suction was consistent along all the pipework
Then put a cleaner through the system and the car is back on form. Should have tested it between stages but all in all very pleased.

So much for 1 garage telling me its a new turbo!

I do still need to replace the "seen better days" vacuum hose, it disappears under the EGR/intake manifold so doesn't actually connect directly to it, so i just need to find the other end! Once i do ill replace but it seems to be holding air at the moment.

Snowy90 L322 - what cleaner did you use to put through the vacuum system? I’m interested in doing so choice hose replacement on my 4.4TDV8 so curious as to how to clean the pipes that may remain.
