The l460 has landrovers new security as does the sport and defender. They are supposed to be better protected against the remote signal hijacking’s that’s common on earlier models. Nothings full proof but I recall seeing some tests which ranked it top of class.

The new keys go to sleep after 10 minutes and have to be physically moved to wake up, so whether in or out of a pouch can not be read. letters not necessarily in the right order |

They don’t go to sleep - post-2018 facelift, they use UWB technology, which means the usual method of relay theft doesn’t work (and, consequently, a Faraday pouch isn’t going to help). |

A What Car test on various cars including a Discovery with the new tech, they couldn’t intercept and relay the fob signal. The Disco Sport tested without it was driven away in seconds.

Correct Philip, 'Ultra Wideband' (UWB) technology within the vehicle's Smart Keys. UWB is highly effective against so called 'relay attacks' where thieves intercept and transmit the key fob and vehicle security signals to unlock and start vehicles even when the key is not near the vehicle. UWB allows the vehicle to detect the physical location of the key with extreme accuracy and thus prevents relay attacks from being successful. But I still fitted a Ghost 2 immobiliser just in case the keys get stolen etc etc 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue |
