2017 L405 3.0 TDV6 - Remapped

Got my TDV6 remapped today and i am well impressed with the results. 0-60 reduced from 7.5 to 6.2secs both based on Draggy times pre and post remap.

This wasn't main reason i remapped it though. It used to feel delayed, laggy and generally lazy which has improved massively Specially pulling out from junctions and roundabouts. It feels much more lighter and alive.

I remapped my previous 4.4 SDV8 which was improved but difference is much more noticeable in the TDV6. Dyno read 240PS and 590Nm pre-remap which gone up to 325PS and 770Nm 2017 Range Rover SDV6 AB

Thank you for sharing.

That is a staggering difference in performance!

I was considering getting mine done and had a quote from Emaps who I have used before, they up the BHP to 300 an torgue to 700 though so it might be a different level of map. Its £299.

Who did you use btw and do you mind me asking the cost?

Also I am actually more interested in the MPG than the performance. But have you noticed a difference?

I have done it at DMS Automotive. Paid £625 including pre/post dyno runs. They have made some changes to gear change logic and few other things. Really happy with end results. I have achieved what i was after. They are not cheap but i wasn't going to do generic map without dyno runs on my car.

My usual route usual driving just now; used to get 34.5 - 35 mpg before the map. Not sure if DMS can map it to achieve better mpg. My brief to them was responsiveness and alive.

Had my 4.4 AB remapped a few weeks ago. It's sports car quick now and the torque is great fun. Not sure about mpg though... .

Has it improved the lag from standstill if you need to get out of a junction quick?

Lag has been almost completely eliminated. I had a Disco 3 mapped a few years ago - it had terrible lag but that too was cured by the remap.

Are there an issues relating to longevity of the engine? I always wonder if LR didn't map to this level originally to balance out engine life? thoughts? 2017 Range Rover Vogue V6 Diesel

@Jase71, exactly.

@Memzy88, my you’re a brave fellow, I must say! Bow down
Most of us with TDV6’s have long ago fallen victim to “crankshaft paranoia” thus would never risk such a stress-increaser, whether that be to the engine or the owner! Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Sorry, must go, need to do my weekly oil change………… “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

They have done surveys and apparently a "Spirited driver" will only use the extra power for around 3% of the time, and average driver even less.....

So a minimum increase in stress but a much nicer ride and increased MPG....

JLR and other makers have to take into account how their products are used and serviced in hostile environments with poor quality fuel and maximum distance between oil changes...

They tune them to a lower spec than they can, to help themselves

In the UK with premium fuel and everyone on here doing weekly oil changes Shocked you will be fine...

A lot of remapping places give you free insurance against engine problems due to the remap... Thumbs Up Pete

Hmmmm, the caveat is the “due to the remap” bit. Kinda hard to prove?
IMHO, many of such insurances have the word “IZAL” printed in the top left hand corner.

(for those of us old enough to remember).

Often (but not always) the type of person seeking a remap or plug-in upgrade, is also the type of person to make frequent use of it. And, which would you rather purchase, an original vehicle, or a remapped one? Whistle

Jusy sayin’. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?
