C1a13-64 new compressor fitted

Hi all

I’m here on behalf of my old man who’s having issues with his l322. So after letting it stand for 5 months he went and started it up and had a suspension fault, first thing he did was pull and strip the compressor to find it had broken the rod. He also found his spare wheel well full of water due to not cleaning his drains which has now been sorted. Anyhow he purchased a replacement compressor off eBay (I wasn’t fond of the idea) it came and he fitted the compressor and new relay. Now I’ve heard people say the relay in on the drivers side rear fuse box, on my truck it is and it’s labelled up but on his it’s not. He’s now got issues with the fault code c1a13-64 pressure does not decrease when venting gallery. I have an IID tool so I’ve been looking at live values etc but I’m starting to think he’s brought a dud compressor. We did take my full unit out my l322 and put it onto his and did get the suspension working in a fashion but the moment you go to adjust ride higher with the button it bongs and throws the fault. I’ve uploaded some of the codes we’ve had while trying to trouble shoot but is just seem to be going around in circles now. Tomorrow I’ll be going to get all live values etc to post on here to see if anyone can point me in the right direction to help him get it sorted.

Hi, is it possible that when refitting the replacement compressor the pipes have been crossed over? I seem to remember having similar issues after rebuilding the compressor on my TD6 a few years ago and getting quite frustrated until I finally realised what I had done. You may have already considered this but if not it may be worth a look.

Is it the exact same compressor? If a different brand you need to tell the car via IID

I think he’s got the pipes right but I’ll double check tomorrow.

There are 2 diff brand of compressors. It looks as if you have fitted the other one.
Sort it with iidtool.

The replacement he got was meant to be hitachi but it’s slightly different to the one he’s taken off where the exhaust valve is.

Update

So today we are currently taking my compressor off my tdv8 and putting it onto my old man’s. Faults will be cleared and I’ll run it to see if this solves any issues now all valve blocks have new O rings fitted I’ve had no fault with my suspension so my thinking is if I’m still having issues once the compressor is swapped it has to be something else and that rules out the compressor being a dud. It’s a straight swap hitachi for hitachi but as I said before the one purchased off eBay is slightly different but it’s definitely not AMK.

If anyone has any diagrams for the suspension I’d love to see them. I want to make sure my old man hasn’t got any pipes wrong especially on the valve blocks.

My other question is where is main relay located for the suspension as when I look at my truck it’s in the boot right hand side fuse box and it’s labelled up as suspension. When I look at my old man’s the same relay looks to be something to do with the engine. He can’t find the manual for his truck and I’m not sure if mines the same but since yesterday I can’t get his compressor to run at all so I’m starting to think we’ve burnt the relay out.

I’m starting to lose the will to live with this truck 😂 it was fine until stood for a while then the compressor giving up.

Basically started from the beginning. New compressor still on the truck cleared faults with iiD tool. Started the truck and compressor started like values in the picture. She’s sat on bum stops but wasn’t lifting at all. 2 lights on the suspension control illuminated the moment I go to adjust height it throws suspension fault and says special programs turned off. Fault is also in the pictures. Next step is swapping my compressor onto the truck which is fully working to see if it gives the same faults so I can rule out the new compressor.

The values showing exhaust valve at 100% is after it’s thrown the fault when I try to lift the truck. Prior to that it was showing 100% reservoir.

Good afternoon James, I've just gone through a similar thing, mine kept doing the same, I bought a compressor off eBay, then in 2months the fault came back and I ended up buying a second OE compressor. It still did it, in the end it turned out to be the steel air tank. It had a very slow leak due to it being rusty, so a new one bought and fitted and all is good with the suspension now. I think the only reason the eBay unit failed is because probably it was running constantly every journey.
Hope this helps. Borrowed Grey 2002 3d 204k for a year
Now own a 2007 Java black Vogue SE 3.6TDV8 160k
