Front seats replacement

Visiting the local breakers for some freelander parts, came across a pair of front seats I just couldn't ignore. Mine are in not too bad a shape overall, for a daily driver, with everything working on them but they do show their age. The ones I found however, look immaculate. They have screen headrests but I couldn't care less about the screens so I let the breakers keep them and I'll use mine.
The driver's seat has no valance trim, no control buttons and no seat belt pre-tensioner. I'll be transplanting mine, no problems there.
My questions are:

-Do I have to use my own pre-tensioners as they may be coded with the airbags or is this a myth?
-Any points / catches I should be paying particular attention to?

Thanks in advance

Before installing in the car you can swich driver and passanger foam and leather if you wannt. Then you´ll get brand new seat edge.
And also check seat back heaters before installing, common issue is plastic is broken (much easyer disconnect the cover when seat is out).

Thanks for the tip of swapping L/R cushions, well noted Thumbs Up .
Meanwhile, took the time to carefully study the seats I bought and although they do look great, my own are in perfect working condition, actually.
So I decided to keep them rather than take chances with unknown components and potential refitting. I will assign the job of swapping the tatty leather parts to a professional. It can't be too costly a job. This should also take care of the edges and foams.
Done the easiest part of changing the armrests for now. It did make a difference already Cool

I have replaced a curtain and seat airbag - they were not coded to the car. The airbag ECU is coded but not the individual airbags. Kevin

Easy to do the leather and foam just need long handle pliers to pull the hog rings. 2017 SDV8 4.4 silicon silver AB

Thanks for your input, gentlemen. I have decided to keep my original seats and replace the worn leather and maybe foam with that from the ones I purchased.
I'm not to good with trims and covers and the FF seats are complex enough, which places them beyond my comfort zone. So I'll let professionals do the swap and perhaps some further cosmetic tweaks. Will follow up on this thread in due course Thumbs Up

If they are just a bit saggy and loose you can tighten the leather with a heat gun or hairdryer but you have to be careful not to keep it focussed on one point for too long

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately they are cracked, hardened and darkened. They also seem to have an unhealthy sheen on them. It's mainly the seat cushions; the back could be left alone, especially on the passenger side.

Old girl is back from the upholsterer.

Front seats were stripped and redone with the leathers and foams from the ones I had purchased.

Did the door handles Vogue style but with leather this time, with a few mm thicker foam inside, too.

Glued the door cards together as they were falling apart.

And finally did the headliner and visors.

Looks, feels and even smells very fresh indeed Thumbs Up
