TL249VK Towbar

Hi,
Has anyone experienced problems with a Tow Trust TL249VK detachable towbar? The one on my 06 SC purchase by the previous owner and fitted by a reputable local company in April 2021 has just been condemned by the manufacturer. The four socket mounting bolts have become loose and one has fallen out completely. The manufacturer says these are torqued up then the socket is welded to the main bar in the factory and I must have overloaded it and broken the welds. They go on to say do not use again and buy a new one. I can see no evidence of any welding around the socket, broken or not, and although they say they don’t make this model anymore I can still see it being advertised by several towbar suppliers. Just interested to see if anyone else has experienced the same?
Thank you,
John.

Tow Trust are a reputable manufacturer, and all their bars are also type approved.

I have a Tow Trust bar and fitted it myself. The only weld anywhere on the assembly is the bracket on the crossbar for the flange. These are robust welds and i highly doubt an over-torqued bolt would crack them. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

GaryRR is yours fixed rather than detachable? They’re saying the bolts are torqued then the socket is welded to the bar. They say I must have overloaded the towbar and broken the welds which has allowed movement and the bolts to loosen.

Has the weld actually cracked? A photo would be helpful to understand what Tow Trust mean.

Yes, my bar is the fixed type, which is just 2 bolts to attach the flange. It's identical to the detachable bar with the exception of the welded bracket being slightly different.

To break a weld, that must have been a massive nose weight. Have you towed anything which may have been incorrectly loaded? The other thing that makes me think is whether someone or a garage has used the tow bar as a jacking point, which has been known to snap them. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8
