Since putting on these New Alloys , I have noticed an increase in road noise , don't know if it's the design or the structure of the Alloy , but it has increased since changing from the original S/Charger wheels.

only ever used Wonder Wheels Mick, but wary of potential acidic content and damage to wheels.

Adam, definiteky got to agree there, the 18" ride is fantastic, the only thing that puts me of the 18" wheels is certain "friends" said that small wheels make the car look cheap

Autosmart have a wheel cleaner which is ok for the build up of brake dust on the rear of the alloys - buy the "Donkey Dick" brush to work it in then wipe off with a sponge and reapply as needed.

Funny, I've always thought the same about big shiny wheels!

I can recommend Megs products as already mentioned, get their wheel face brush too. Halfords have a 3 for 2 offer on car cleaning things at the moment, so actually makes them competitive.

Generally with their wheel cleaner by the time you've finished spraying it on all wheels, its ready to clean the first wheel off, but you will need a brush if the brake dust has been on for more than a day or two.

Then you should apply a wax so that future brake dust doesn’t stick.

Re wheel cleaner, I have had good success with the Tesco budget stuff at 99p - it was just as effective as expensive branded stuff. No I wasn't being a cheap skate - just bought it to use on the wife's car and ended up using it on the RR as it worked more than OK

I'm on the lookout for a good wax to use on the wheels, at the moment I'm just using megs #16 yellow on the wheels, but have to re-apply weekly. Maybe Brake Dust is just so corrosive nothing can protect against it forever. Maybe I need some brake dust sheilds the kids in Corsa's in McDonalds car park have! Apparently they come in cross drilled and groved type!! 

The trouble is its not just brake dust you are trying to remove - most of it is metal particles.

Brake discs are now made from softer steel than historically, this is to enable the pads more bite - hence the efficiency of brakes has gone up significantly. Brake discs and drums used to last for a very long time. Now you are lucky to get 20K miles out of a set of discs on certain vehicles - the trade off being very efficient brakes but the discs just don't last as long.

Use a clay bar, and avoid chemicals.

Are your new wheels bigger than your old ones? Have you had new tyres?

I had good results with fine cutting compound, like T-cut, and then wax. The wheels on my S/C were dirty and discoloured where a muppet had used acid and let it stay on too long. It's a little sore on the fingers though

I usually clean mine with a citrus based degreaser, works as good as acid without the harshness. Buy it by the gallon from chemical supplier on internet. Once they are clean I usually give them a coat of Mer polish, its great because you can put it on wet and it will take off any ingrained dirt and marks as well.

Halfords sell Mer.

Same size of wheels 20" and same tyres Martin but i am going to sell them and the S/C Wheels ,

Clay bar and autosol. My alloys were looking terrible. Used the clay bar and finished with Autosol. Look like new.

Cheap and easy . . . . just the way I like my women too!!
