Yep, my old D3 did this to me. Turned out to be a duff ECU but it can also be caused by a duff sensor. Worth checking if the wiring is chafed through as I've read about that one as well.

Activate the beepers, and walk round and put your ear to the sensors, if they click there working. If all are working/clicking front and rear i would guess its the ECU. |

The long beep and the flashing led indicate that a fault has been detected. Either the front, rear or both have been disabled. I would suggest that a sensor or the wiring is at fault on this one but as you have the fail indications you could plug it in and read the fault code. Other than that try listening for a sensor hat isn't clicking and that is the faulty one.

This thread’s arrived just at the right time for me, mine has just failed and by listening for the clicking I’ve found one of the front ones faulty, just looks like a bit of a mare to get the bumper off, ah well, thanks for the info guys |

looking at the rave pics , its possible you might be able to get to the sensors without taking of the bumper..

Cheers Stan, just noticed that after a search of PDC, that looks much more appealing! |

The PDC ECU's are a complete pain in the ass. They seem very flakey.

I need to sort the rear ones on mine, they beep as if something's really close to the car, really annoying as I'm realising how much I rely on them when parking 2006 Mercedes CLS

Just to clear this up. Rave may say that you can remove the PDC sensors with out removing the bumper but the newer sensors have to be removed from behind. The shape physically won't fit through the hole. Bumper removal on the front is very easy and only took me (an amateur) about an hour to complete the job.
