Be prepared for the price of the L322's shocks being at least double the price of the D4's shocks yet wear out at the same rate, although I fitted Bilsteins which are somewhat cheaper than genuine.

D4 has a known history of snappy cranks.

I'm on 160k miles and the original shocks are still doing their job. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

I think most members on here would go for the L322 ( and vice versa on the D4 sites ), many people that I have given a lift to and it was their first time in an L322 have been impressed, with the favourite comment being 'It's such a nice place to be' and mine is now an old bus.

Thank you for the replies appreciate people thoughts on this. Have decided to focus the search for a FFRR L322 now and have discounted the D4 having now read some horror stories on the cranks but mainly the comfort of the RR is the big appeal. If we need more storage we can always stick a roof box on..... |

That will get you something > 100k miles. You would be wise to have a contingency fund of at least £2k and preferably much more.

Thanks for the advice have a contingency fund wouldn't be considering one without as know the bills can be big. Whatever I buy will need to have had a decent service history as won't touch one without it. |

Don’t get too hung up on service history on a car +10 years old. A detailed inspection is what’s important. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

Owned 2 D4s from new, I have a soft spot for them I think they are the best all round family/dog car. Sold them on at 3 years once the warranty was up, the last one has since had a new engine due to snapped crank at 60k miles.. MY23 PHEV HSE

I would suggest you look at 2012 L322s and see what you can get for around £17k. It will bring you into the realms of 60k - 70k miles cars. There are a few about.

had a lift in a D4 this year and was mightily impressed with the room, ride and the comfort in the back. it had the leather interior. However as a driver, I prefer the L322. |
