Rear diff oil

Refernce my post in ' what did you do in your FF ".

No evidence to show my rear diff oil has ever been changed so at 93k , I drained the oil yesterday and was shocked how clean it was.Very tiny amount of fine fillings on the filler plug which is magnetic.
No real way of checking it other than draining it out so seemed a bit of a waste doing it.

Have got the transfer box to do( not the gearbox ) but wondering if that will be just as clean.

Just spotted- I put this in the wrong section !! Mine is an L405 ( 3.0 td )

Mine had never been changed that I could find a record of, so I did both diffs and transfer case at ~80K when I got the car.

Rear was clean, transfer box similarly. Front diff much dirtier. 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.

At that mileage it is a good move to change the oils, lubricating oil has a lifespan like many other parts. Good news that it was clean, now you know that, you have some peace of mind which is priceless. planned preventative maintenance is good practice, helps maintain reliability, and is way cheaper than renewing components. Hope the transfer box oil is just as clean. Thumbs Up
