Bad Purge Valve? Fault Code P0442

Should I be able to blow any air through the purge valve when it is de-energized? I took off the purge valve assembly, and I’m able to blow some air through the assembly, so I’m thinking this is the reason I’m getting fault code P0442.

Backstory: My check engine light came on after a few messages that said my gas cap was loose. The only code the truck stored was P0442. I bought a new fuel cap and reset the code. The light stayed on. Also, I can make the light go away by resetting it when the truck is full. The code will come back when my tank is ¾ full. The manual says the DMTL checks for evap leaks when the truck has less than ¾ of a tank, so it makes sense that the light comes back on. I’m trying not to through parts at my problem. It seems like the purge valve is my problem. I was wanting to verify my diagnosis before I buy a new assembly. 2012 HSE 5.0 V8

It appears the problem was the purge valve. When I received the new purge valve, I was unable to push any air through it unlike the old one I removed. My check engine light is gone. 2012 HSE 5.0 V8
