Software update

Today when I turned off, the screen said something about an update. As these are non negotiable I just said do it and then spotted the car would be dead for 35 minutes. The Porsche does it without any interference with use.
have now tried 3 times without success, each time I had failed to hold my left thumb at exactly 90 degrees or said update rather than upDate.
It is trying again.
If only there was an instruction manual. letters not necessarily in the right order

U can choose the time for your update.

There is something about it all in the digital handbook

I got that message as well and couldn’t afford to wait 35 minutes. But it gave me the choice to schedule the update which I did for a time when I didn’t need the car. Very smooth operation.

Technician phoned back, talked me through, confirmed I had done everything correctly and said I had to speak to supplying dealer.
Phone dealer, it will have to go in for a day, if you want a loan car it is £20. FFS I have just paid £140,000 for a car that has now glitched and you want what, thats what I thought but remained polite.
When can you have it in if I dont need a loan car as we are going away in it shortly. Not till next week.
Is this going to let me down in the mean time, I dont know I will transfer you to someone who can answer that, launched in to orbit and then to head office in Gateshead telephone reception who clearly could not care less.
now waiting for another call back. letters not necessarily in the right order

Since when is it a requirement to have a degree in computer programming to own a car.
Yes car left locked and alarmed.
Good signal? I have no idea, it has its own sim and seams able to tell my phone when I choose not to lock it.
Sorry I know you are trying to help.
But if they need me to do things it needs to be made clear and simple.
Booked in to dealer but they cant see it till the 16th. letters not necessarily in the right order

Same problem. Tried over 10 times to no avail.

Saw a technician today about another matter and he said to book it in.

OTA… meh 🙄

Dixy,
Your answer maybe it needs hard wiring update.

And not sure if it relates to the roll-out or not but there's a new Service Action - N795:

"Certain 2020 to 2022 Land Rover vehicles are failing to complete Software Over The Air (SOTA) updates, specifically Vehicle Domain Controller (VDC) and PIVI. These vehicles have now been stopped from further SOTA attempts and require a wired intervention."

While it says "2020 to 2022" the bulletin appears to apply to MY23 Defender, Discovery, Discovery Sport, Range Rover, Evoque and Velar.
