This is something I must do to my 4.4 TDV8 before they get stuck, will have to look up the forum and see where they are located. The new WD40 cans with the bendable nozzle could be handy for this work! Current yokes

Shouldn't be an issue on the 4.4. The only similar system that can get stuck is the turbo diverter valve but as yours is a 2012 it will be the later type which doesn't seize. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

The new metal nozzle does make it a little more doable, you still get excess wd40 over parts but for the most part it makes hitting the target a little easier. 2002 L322 4.4V8 - G4 Challenge Car - Australia leg

They do still appear to stick, both L322 and L405, if the car has been stood for a while (or has never had much proper exercise). |

Another reason I boot my 4.4 TDV8 on every drove when it’s warm.

Thank you for posting this. I have just recently solved the same problem with the driver's side actuator sticking. Fortunately, the (UK) driver's side actuator is a lot more accessible, though it is also a lot more exposed to water and road grime. I was wondering how I was going to get at the passenger side actuator if that became a problem too... many thanks! |

I have a 2012 4.4 tdv8 and suffered a stuck actuator on the NS/passenger side turbo earlier last year. A local specialist (so called but actually scum bags) told me I needed new turbos but a trustworthy (now I know them) specialist after my car was at the other place for a couple of months, diagnosed a stuck actuator and fitted a new one for £320 all in. They did say they could lubricate for me but was likely to stick again so elected for the replacement. It might have been a little less as they did something else for me also. Just highlighting as this issue can obviously effect the 4.4 tdv8 so preventative maintenance is likely a good move. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Vogue Santorini black ivory leather |

I do wonder how many people have been stung with turbo replacement jobs when a bit of oil on an actuator was all that was actually needed. I was fortunate that a previous Performance Restricted issue was identified as a sticking actuator by the local main Land Rover dealer in Dungannon. They just oiled it and let me know what the problem had turned out to be. When I had a recurrence of the warning light, it was the first thing I thought to look at, and right enough, that was all it was. I think next time I crawl under there I'll stick some silicon oil on it rather than just WD40 though. A Brace of Bronze:

WD40.. The ' WD ' stands for 'Water dispersant'. It has very limited and short-lived lubricating qualities. |

Very true, but the long metal nozzle is perfect for directing it where you want and it’s the physical manipulation that frees it up. The motion lotion is only a short term aid and that’s all that’s required.

Anyone have any pictures of the 4.4 linkages that could cause sticktion? Reading around vacuum hoses can cause similar faults |
