Looking for to get some insight on Tow Assist. I have just retrofitted a tow bar to a MY 2013 L405 AB, the trailer electrics work fine, but I was wondering how I initiate tow assist on the cameras?

It should ask you to set it up when you plug in a trailer sir...

Mine didn’t either....

Is there some CCF editing that needs doing when a tow bar is fitted. I’m thinking my installer didn’t do it so I too have working electrics and dash warning but no reversing camera assistance..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

It’s odd, when electrics are plugged in it knows that a trailer is connected as the green symbol appears on the dash. In addition to the Tow assist not being an option the park sensors are also active when reversing (very annoying unless manually turned off). It seems like something is missing.

Although your green indicator repeater lamp will work if you add a towbar and electrics, you will need someone with a suitable system (Dealer SDD system or Autologic I assume? Not sure if IID can do it) to 'enable' full towing functionality including disabling the reversing sensors when towing. The IID tool does enable the tow assist and all it needs.
Mine is odd as the trailer symbol doesn’t work with the indicators, trying everything.

My new to me L405 has it but all I can see it helps to reverse you which I can do myself, am I missing something

It stops the suspension dropping, turns off the parking sensors, zooms in on the tow hitch and when set up aids reverse, you need the white sticker mounted and set up the trailer dimensions etc.

Don't confuse hitch assist with tow assist. I don't think the white triangle hitch assist is available on the 2013 405.

I have the factory deployable tow bar and tried everywhere to get the hitch assist enabled. Turns out the functionality is not fitted to my vehicle. An indy in London who specialises in 'switching things on' and other enhancements for RR confirmed this via my VIN.

Bit disappointing but not really a biggy.

Come to think of it, when I last reversed with the caravan hooked up the reverse sensors were still active.

I'd be interested to see if tow assist must be enabled. You would have thought with a factory tow bar it would be! 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

I have tow assist, and IMO it’s just a gimmick I think I’ve used it maybe twice, and have taken the triangles off now.

Ours is an after market tow bar so presumably was activated when the car was programmed. The only thing I use is the hitch assist to reverse up to the tow ball, and then the ability to raise / lower the back of the car with the key fob to help hitch up.

As soon as you plug in the electrics it detects the trailer and starts the tracking once you confirm it’s connected on the display. I also notice a change in engine tone when you plug in, as well as parking sensors etc being disabled.

I had to fit a module to the van, as it has LED lights that caused the car to not recognise anything was connected, so if you have parking sensors coming on either it’s not coded or you might have the same issue with LED lights. Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

If you parking sensors are active then it still needs coding.
It should then open up hitch assist
