pollen cabin filter direction

Hi

Any guesses which way up the cabin pollen filter goes?
Various You tube videos show either way is correct, so can't believe those as one must be wrong.
From the dirt collected, I think the air flow is upwards, which is the opposite to the way it was fitted, and opposite to what would be the obvious which is sucking air from the plastic windscreen base down to the heater.

Any definitive answers?

Thanks,

From memory I agree the airflow is upwards.
For the filtration it doesn't matter which way round.
However dependant on the design of the specific filter, some have flexible "flaps" at the side that take up the clearance with the housing.
The filter should be orientated so that the flaps get pushed against the housing due to airflow - rather than the opposite direction where the flaps would collapse and allow air past. Paul,

To answer my own post, after studying the innards with a torch and a hoover, I can confirm the airflow is upwards.
And can recommend hoovering out the innards before fitting a new filter, something nobody seems to mention.

Best wishes
