Speed camera van on M-way service station entrance road

Pulled off the westbound M4 into Reading services and down the entrance road where the speed limit is 20mph there was a speed van with 2 cameras poking out facing the incoming traffic. Never seen this before and though that service station roads are 'private'...... 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve never noticed 20mph on a services road, let alone a speed camera!

i can imagine idiots coming off the motorway still travelling into the services at 70mph'ish so it makes sense to have some kind of deterrent ..
i guess the services asked uk highways to help them.. ... - .- -.

Probably more to do with the easy pickings for the scamera vans.

Slow down yes, but 20mph on a "slip road" ?

The sensible drivers will already have cut their speed, cutting it further runs the risk of being rear ended by a 70+ mph idiot.

you're probably right about the easy pickings..

mind you thats a big reduction in speed from 70 to 20mph in a short length of road.

I’m hoping so - it didn’t have any speed camera signs or lettering. Plain white van with just chevrons on the rear and 2 cameras. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

i think anpr cameras are on all gantry's on the m4 so i doubt a mobile one would be located there. ... - .- -.
