Near Side Door Trim Design Fault? | |
L460 owners check out the plastic trim at the top of your passenger side door where it meets the wing. The plastic trim comes away from the door and rubs on the side edge of the wing. It appears to be due the plastic trim having no fixings on the leading edge and therefore it relies on double sided tape. As the plastic has a spring to it, it pops out from the door as the door contour is not the same as the plastic strip (pics to follow).
I'm on my second L460 and both had the same fault.
I viewed the cars on display at Goodwood and found the same fault.
I parked next to an SV at the weekend and it has the same fault.
On my current L460 its been in for repair which included new trim but its still not fixed. Pinged straight out again after a few days.
I've looked at the fixing method behind the trim and its clear where the problem lies. No mechanical fixing on the leading edge. What is strange is I've not seen the fault on any driver-side doors.
Will post pics showing the fault and also a pic of the door minus the trim.
Curious to see how widespread the fault is.
