The steps must be stowed to jack the car up sir... Never jack the car up on a deployed step! The brackets are made of cast aluminium and are made to brake in an impact situation so as to not damage the cars structure... |

For anyone reading this in the future... Look underneath your step and there is a recess for the jack. BUT... Only jack the car up with the steps stowed in the closed position... |

I guess it's technically correct - the steps need to be deployed to access the jacking points - although why you'd need to access the jacking points other than to jack up the car isn't clear....

Do the steps just unbolt from the brackets? Or is there a trick to getting them off?

mine are 10mm step to bracket and 13mm bracket to underside of FF.. ... - .- -.
