driving in truck ruts

does any one else suffer the dreaded sometimes fairly deep ruts made by heavy trucks..

the swindon to oxford road is riddled with stretches that make the FF uncomfortable to steer ..

i guess its the FF's wide wheelbase thats roughly the same as a trucks thats the problem. ... - .- -.

yes Stan, even on the M4 in the inside/HGV-heavy lane, it's noticeable. My tyres are 255/55/19 and I find myself weaving in the inside lane and sometimes have to go into the middle lane to stabilise! Shocked

I've had it in the past on various vehicles & found a change of tyre make/type cured the issue but it's a bit hit & miss.

Lower-profile will increase tramlining - just drive faster so you’re always overtaking, or move away from Swindon?

SDV8, 22" wheels with (new late last year) Scorpion Zero tyres

The worst bit of that road is the new surface up the hill from Oxford, not too noticeable in my car, but it's really noisy when I'm in my wife's Golf R. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

thats the bit where you can put your foot down and then you get to the 'level' bit and frustratingly its a 50mph sign.. Laughing

maybe the weight of your V8 helps as mine is a lightweight tdv6..

i think i'll go A34/M4 next time.. Wink ... - .- -.

On the M56 in Lane 1 around Frodsham you can take your hands off the wheel and the vehicle drives itself, the ruts are so deep. FFRR SDV8 Autobiography
