On pressing the key to lock my RR (2014 RR Autobiography 4.4) I would get the beep, beep sound but the mirrors would not fold in. This would happen intermediately, though on checking
the drivers door it was locked. When I tried the O/S rear door it opened and the alarm sounded?

On turning the alarm off I tried again and the car locked normally.

This happens intermittently.

I do have a full RR warranty but not sure if electrical issues are covered.

The car has been serviced by a MD since new. Now showing 52K.

Any ideas as to what the fault might be would be appreciated. 718 GT4

Just to clarify, is the double beep the one that goes with the indicator flashes to show it is double locked or the double beep (quieter ones) indicating unable to lock. Chris

Failure to central lock is usually caused by doors not shut properly. This could either be a lock slightly out of line or an electronic fault giving a false message that a door is not shut properly.

Focus on the rear door that is not locking does it shut ok? I would guess that the electronic signal is given by the light switch. Do you get an open door message when ignition is on? Does the fault only occur after the door has been used? 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

So something is preventing it locking? Doors/tailgate/bonnet not fully closed? My sport bonnet needed a good slam down even though apparently fully closed otherwise it wouldn't lock. Chris

Ok, after several experiments I believe it’s the tailgate door that is the problem. She has just come back from her annual service and it sounds like it needs some lubrication on the struts or something like that which might be impeding it from fully closing as the lower half is definitely soft closing but the upper part not so.

Guess I’ll pop back to my dealer and get them to check it out.
