Here a tip for anyone flying to Geneva, it may seem obvious to some of you but I managed to do it the wrong way so…..

If you are heading to the French alps, book your car pickup on the Swiss side. The French hire desks don’t provide a vignette for the Swiss motorways for some reason, so to get back to the airport requires some strategic planning and the directions provided by the hire desk (Avis) we’re sketchy at best.

But for anyone who needs it I think I worked the route out here.

For anyone coming from Annecy/Bourg at Maurice direction.

Getting out from the airport is also a bit hit and miss, we ended up on the Swiss motorway and had to drive through customs, fortunately no one was checking that day so we were fine, but the way out is quite circuitous.

Of course you could just buy a vignette for €40 at the Swiss customs for the 10mm a that you will be on the motorway. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
