Scotland 2008 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Baltic Blue
2008 tdv8 transfer box shaft

So, my 2008 3.6tdv8 has Censored the splines on the gbox output shaft and transfer box shaft!
I can get the gbox shaft for 200+vat which is ok, but cant find the shaft for the transfer box, all that listed is for the DD295 PLA 2011>.
A company can repair the splines on the transfer shaft but for 600+vat!!

Anyone know where i can sourse the DD295 (early) shaft??
Also, does anyone know whats different about the later DD295 PLA shaft? Different internal splines for the zf 8spd output??
Maybe RRphil can chime in Smile
Any help much appreciated. Cheers

I’m not much use, I’m afraid, because I had thought that all the L322 transfer boxes were interchangeable.

However, I can see your dilemma. JPAT (near Bristol) sell spares for the DD295 and their catalogue appears to identify two different input shafts.
https://www.jpat.co.uk/uploads/1/0/3/5/103...itcpla.pdf

One is for transfer boxes with part numbers:
IAB500240, IAB500241, IAB500243, IAB500244, IAB500280, LR006016, LR008206

and the other for transfer boxes:
LR023011, LR035617, LR045477, LR049160, LR052611, LR089531

This also appears to be confirmed by Sussex Autos, who further state that (exactly as you mentioned) the earlier shaft is no longer available :

I wondered if it might be worth you contacting either of them to see if they can tell you what the difference is? I notice that the Sussex Autos price for the later shaft is £182.65 incl. VAT. Second-hand DD295 transfer boxes commonly appear on eBay from around £150. Obviously, there’s a risk buying a second-hand box for spares. Any sign of brown dust (fretting corrosion) on the spline would clearly rule it out. The gamble would be that if the splines were lubricated at the factory during assembly then the input shaft internal spline should be fine on a second-hand unit.
