Now that's a first.. adaptive cruise control Red Restriction

So this just happened to me on MY2012 4.4TDV8.
cruising at 50mph on highway around Bordeaux (expecting to regenerate my DPF), I'm using my adaptive cruise control.

there is a sudden traffic stop and I have to brake quite urgently --> immediate red performance restriction alarm !

I exit the highway and park in a quiet parking, plug the IID tool : here 's what I have

Nothing in there relevant to my actual mileage (17950) or today's date (feb 22nd)...

While I'm parked I close the car and proceed to make some purchases at the grocery store (whose parking I'm using)
20mn later I get in the car, put igniton on and the Red Trinagle of Doom has disapeared...

I'm at a loss here

There might be a hint with the fault "invalid data received from speed control module" on jan 15th. is it linked to adaptive cruise conrol ?

Thoughts anyone ? "it needs some intelligence to undestand you may not have enough"

Most if not all those faults are 'spurious' i.e always thrown up on every fault scan and don't relate to actual issues. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Hi ergo,
Just a thought, are you sure it wasn’t a forward alert warning ?
They can be quite “alarming” when they are activated.

Hi Mike,

I don't think so.
It was the "restricted performance" red triangle of doom all right ! No further explanations.

Having had the same for my faulty EGR (before I changed it), I've seen it before Big Cry

The fact that it left no trace in the IID tool AND that it disapeared all by itself is puzzling Question
Apparently it's a first allright...

Cheers

That speed control module is the adaptive cruise radar unit.

If your PCM isn't at the latest level then I suggest that you update it as there were changes regarding ACC quite late in the production run. My April 2012 build didn't get the PCM version that had already been released a couple of months earlier.

Yeah thanks GraemeS,

I had my suspicions, given the circumstances: adaptive CC on, brutal braking inducing abrupt release of CC, all of that leading to a "faulty sense of inadequacy" of my poor "speed control module" Laughing
I could test this theory...
I don't know if I want to make it happen again though Whistle
