When was the last time you found an electric window didn’t work?

You could get in a 1990 Ford and it would still be working- shame the Land Rover build quality is here yet again.

Drivers window bangs inside the door on its way down and stops, struggles to open, then becomes unresponsive. Booked it in with the dealer who can very conveniently see me in just over a months time, so, I’ve basically got to not use my window for a month. Unreal.

I got LR Assist to come out today.

The guy said he’s seen this many times on the Range Rover and Discovery. The glass comes out of the runners inside the door. He had it fixed in 20 mins after removing the door card. Discovery 4 HSE

Well to finish this thread off for the next person who gets this….

The problem arose again. LR Assist (AA) came out and took the door card off again and I insisted nicely that I see inside the door to eyeball the issue.

It turns out the front of the glass slides down inside the door within a wide felt runner that is a rubber length, just held into a metal channel.

That rubber was hanging down, out of its channel. This explained why the window became really slow and was creaking on the way down- it was effectively trying to re-seat that rubber channel as it went down. Could easily knacker the motor doing so. Even though it had been pushed back in it clearly just wants to come out so we cleaned it with degreaser and glued it back in so that hopefully it doesn’t happen again.

LRA don’t carry any glue on board but I had Gorilla Glue epoxy mix stuff and we spread that down the rubber. Discovery 4 HSE
