My car thread

So thought I would start a thread detailing everything I have done etc on the car. I got it in November, for a good price, as it was an insurnace buy back, but the least worrying category. 75,000 miles and seemed in pretty good nick, I paid £13K.

I had a pretty detailed inspection done and nothing terrible came up.

I wanted to start with a clean slate on teh car and get a load of stuff done preventatively so I could be copnfident it was sorted.

First job was a complete transmission flush and fluid change, carried out at Dartford transmissions, along with the diff and transaxles.

Then I booked her in for a major service even though it had supposedly been serviced by the dealer I brought from ( The Vogue centre)

They did full oil and filters, front suspension arm to match the other side which had recently been done, full brake service with new disc back plates, nipples etc, complete set of new belts, a couple of the hoses, new starter motor and battery ( long story, but these went while with them) and some cosmetic stuff such as new LED fog lights, side repeaters, wheel centres etc. I also got a new spare key.

I have spent nearly £3K on her now, but am now happy she is basically sound and hopefully wont need anything major soon....

Next project is a deep underside clean and resto as best I can without major work. Some pictures:

Nice.
Highly recommend removing sills and rear wheel arch liners and treat rust, paint and wax over with something like Lanoguard

It was a Cat D. It does not really bother me, as its a decent car with nice low mileage and I am not likely to sell it for a long time, if at all. Similar year and mileage were £5K or so higher.

I did some other jobs on it today, new rear wiper - more complicated than it looked as I had to remove the spoiler.....

With the wheels off, I gave the rear a really good jetwash and clean and hammerited the rear calipers.....I know its not a "proper" job, but I cant have the car off the road for ages while I get calipers removed and sent away for coating.

I also gave the rear backbox a coat of black high temp paint

Looks lovely! Deployable side steps also, nice.

I’ve been meaning to paint my back box also, it isn’t as bad as some I’ve seen but best to do it soon
