Back ordered parts for land rover

Hi all, anyone got experience on waiting for back orders parts from landrover? Further to post earlier this month about it not starting, the car had be to towed to a garage where they have diagnosed a faulty fuel pump (thankfully not the high pressure pump). Now being told that this part is on back order…. Anyone got any experience of waiting in such circumstances… am I looking at days, weeks or months…?

It’s four years old with 22k miles on the clock. To say I’m unimpressed is an understatement…. Had 25 years trouble free motoring with German cars prior to this Big Cry

Experience was Pre-Pandemic/Brexit/Ukraine.

I was told that Land Rover wait for enough backorders to be placed before looking for a supplier to make either a full or limited run of the part.

What about trying Rimmer Bros or other parts suppliers yourself and seeing if you can source the part and supply it to the garage?

Back in the day I would have suggested calling LR Customer Relations (I did this when I needed a new gearbox on my second 322 eight days after (approved used) purchase and was told it was on back order - I threatened to reject the car and Lo! a gearbox appeared). However I was told recently that if one calls LRCR nowadays one just gets a recorded message saying to contact the LR dealer, so probably a waste of time.

Good luck getting back on the road. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Thanks all. Yes, rimmer bros looks like it might have it… will check it is definitely the right part. My only concern is that if it’s not that part that is the problem I will be stuck with the part.

Appreciate that things can go wrong but at such low mileage its very frustrating.

You shouldn't be, as long you return it in its original packaging, you be able to get a refund for the part.

We've 5 dead cars in at the moment, all waiting on parts, all on back order Rolling Eyes

For whatever reason, its worse now than it was during lockdown Pt1, where the whole world stopped working Rolling Eyes

Our local dealer has over 30 dead cars awaiting back order parts, and the parts dept have over 200 outstanding orders awaiting JLR fulfillment Rolling Eyes

It's not just JLR, I'm aware that MB & VWG are still having supply issues, even for current production vehicles - not always electronic components, the latest issues were sump washers and screenwash!

Our 'death row' are awaiting things as varied as EV batteries (3) turbo (2) driveshaft (1) Electronic modules (7) and seat parts (2).
