My trawl through my negatives produced the launch of the Freelander in Oct 1997 which took place in Spain near to Barcelona. We flew direct from Manchester Airport in a plain white aircraft with a big Land Rover Green Oval on it !! We were then given a Police escort from the Airport to the Hotel , drving an example of the new model. My first time driving a left hooker on a Spanish road so was delighted to find every junction blocked off to give us a non stop passage.
They set up the tall structure which allowed you to climb up to the top and down, right next to the launch hotel.
