United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Barolo Black
Drivers side manual key mechanism is missing !!!

Hi Guys,

I replaced the ignition barrel from my 2008 Vogue 3.6 TDV8 and got two new keys made. I picked up the replacement ignition and twinned drivers door barrel second hand from fleabay.

The replacement ignition unit and new key fobs works fine, starting the car and locking/unlocking doors and steering column. Now on to the easy bit, the replacement manual door lock.

I removed the solid black keyhole cover on the drivers side door which should have revealed a key hole as I would be replaceing this with the one from fleabay, matching the keys for the ignition barrel. There was no key hole, just a void where the barrel should have been.

Never mind. I removed the door handle hoping to fit this replacement barrel into the existing door locking mechanism behind, so I can turn a key to unlock the door manually with the battery flat (when, not if !!).

The whole internal door locking mechanism is missing, OMG !!!! Nothing to attach the replacement key barrel to !!!

I tried the drivers side door to see if it's manually unlocked from there. No mechanism there either.
I haven't tried the back doors.

Looks like I will have to install a replacement internal door lock mechanism to attach my external door key barrel to. At the moment, if the battery is flat then I'm locked out of my car. Not good !!

Does anyone know what this internal mechanism looks like, serial numbers etc, so I can find and fit one. Am I missing something obvious like the manual unlock on one of the back doors?

Thanks for any help and advice guys. Happy new year 2023.

Well I guess that gives "keyless entry" a whole new meaning! Laughing
Perhaps the barrel was deleted by a previous owner and then conveniently covered up with the plastic trim?
While I can't readily help you with a part number or pics (which I'm certain you can search online) I can share with you how to gain access into your car if locked out.
