Diff factory recall what a joke

Hiya had my range rover for a couple of weeks now so I thought I would ring my local dealer to ask about the factory recall for the front diff and any other recalls there maybe, couldn't believe what they told me couldn't do it till DECEMBER so rang another dealer nearby and got the same reply, so rang landrover hq up to complain, seems like a complete joke to me to have to wait 5 months to get job done has anyone else had a similar experience.

Mine hasn't been done yet either. When I bought it I arranged to have it done before collection, but there has been a problem with supply of the parts so I took delivery while I waited. I spoke to LR customer service to press them to organise the parts and after a few more weeks they were delivered to the dealer. It'll be back in to be done in next couple of weeks.

I understand the issue is that the parts are having to be made to order now because most cars have been done and therefore supply has dried up. I imagine they have to bulk up the orders to make it cost effective, but I don't know for certain.

I don't think that makes a difference - the dealer gets paid by LR to do the job instead of by you.

Yeh tried team valley they say December also.
Also my concern is that if I do breakdown due to this that would mean I would have to park rangie up for 5 months while waiting for parts, find it very pathetic by such a huge company as landrover. Big Cry Range rover hse

Hi ric355 could you keep me posted on your timescale of events since first calling landrover to actually getting diff done and if you got contact number you used for customer services would be great, the person I spoke to made me feel like it was a crime to enquire about factory recalls

I called my local dealer (matford in Exeter) a few months ago. They booked it in and did the diff work within a few weeks. I only had to wait that long cos I wanted a courtesy car. FFRR TD6 HSE

I used the number from this page to speak to customer services:
http://www.landrover.com/gb/en/lr/contact-us/contact-us/

It took about 4 weeks for LR to get the parts delivered to the dealer once I started talking to them. They are due to call me Monday to book it in.

If your diff has not failed AND you're over 50,000 miles then do not get the recall done. The diff's only failed due to the splines being miss-aligned, if you've made it past 30k then your diff is OK and won't be effected. My last RR was on 120K and hadn't had the diff done. It just depends on which northern hick put your car together.

If you do have it done then be prepared to pick up the bill for "unrelated" issues. There are a LOT of reports of vibration after having the recall done, also oil leaks and I personally caught the dealer breaking my steering column (to which they said it's your word against ours).

The less time your RR spends at a Land Rover dealer the healthier it will be.

As for your experience with LR UK, the dealers are franchises and LR UK have no authority with them. They are all private companies and are nothing to do with Land Rover, the best you can hope for is to complain to the dealer principle. But if you only use them for recall work then they wont care if you never come back and they'll tell you to F.O.
