L322 Tailgate upper and lower units?

Hi everyone

I am looking to confirm that the tailgate units actually remain the same for the early 2000 to the latest models of the L322 in 2012? I think this is correct but confirmation would be appreciated if such a replacement is really an option to consider. A precise fitting arrangement is obviously critical.
