they had halogens fitted so there was no warm up period and could be used to flash other drivers . I’d def not fit anything that has to warm up.

I’ve got LEDs in mine, they look much better and are a pretty good match visually. I also got some with LEDs all round to help avoid the directional issue.

I’d say they were better, but it’s not like having a bank of IPF spots like I had on my Classic.

Re: HiD or LED?

I've looked at previous topics, as technology is always advancing, some of the previous options have been superseded.
I'm looking to replace the halogen high beam lamps as they're frankly pitiful.

HiD-wise, I'm considering the 6000 deg. K. / reflector version of these https://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/h7-hids4...n-kit.html
They're supposedly made for reflector type lamps but have the usual HiD warm-up time issue.

LED-wise, I'm considering https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08N56JYJT/ More expensive, lower input power and slightly lower colour temperature (which gives a 'better' output but looks odd next to the factory HiD's) My main concern is the directional nature of LED's, which may give an odd beam pattern, although Philips probably have better product development than the average Chinese sweatshop.

I'm aware of the MoT implications and potential for false positives from the lighting control module lamp failure monitoring (sometimes called CANBus compatible etc.)

Any recent experience or alternative solutions?
Thanks.

I fitted 50W 4700K (almost same as the bi-xenons) HIDs with a pair of old large ballasts as I've had too many failed slimline ballasts. The lights point too close in front for the bright HIDs, presumably because the original lights are so poor compared with the bi-xenons that they need to be low. To correct the beam the tabs on my HID globes are bent slightly forwards to get the beam where it needs to be for country driving.

Flashing still flashes the bi-xenons and I'd rather not dazzle others with my HIDs which put the bi-xenons to shame once warm.

These are the ones I fitted. Fairly cheap to try.

Maybe I needed different ones for more light output on the road…

I’d advise LED having tried both in my old 322’s 👍

Thumbs Up

Just ordered these so will test against the existing H7. I thought the main beam was pretty good compared to any previous car I've had but you can never have too much.... 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Can't shift the covers to change them - feels like someone has glued them on. Is there knack like pressing and twisting ? 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Pretty sure they just turned, but may have never been undone before.
