GAP IID - What next?

So, I've had my BT IID tool for a good couple of weeks and have thus far managed to clear historic faults and given my display an upgrade with the digital speedo.

Aside from that, it's back in its box and may never really be needed again until something goes wrong.

The question is, what else can I do with it?

I've heard about the DRL option, but unsure of what this will do other than keep my front LEDs burning all the time. Is it worth doing? Am I not just as well switching on my sidelights manually all the time? Whistle

With it being a Westminster from the final week of production, are any of the noted updates really worth doing?

Or should I just keep it in its box (like my AA card) for the 'what if.....'? The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

I've done my drl's and they are just about ok, not as bright as modern day ones.
What about one press superlock?
Do your mirrors auto fold on locking?

those little dots classified as drl's are a waste of time, they're not very effective John...

i would program a one key fob press for the superlocking and you can add a 'lock' and/or 'unlock' chirp. ... - .- -.

Mirrors fold on locking already. I thought that was standard on the 4.4's?

One press superlock isn't required, as there's typically a large beast lurking in the boot! Laughing The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

I would keep it in the FF Central Box, like I do with my IID Tool.
Remember these are Range Rovers...there's no such thing as 'what if', it's a case of 'WHEN!' Rolling with laughter
I've had by IID Tool from when I got my first Rangie, an MY05 TD6, and it's been better than having an AA Card (which I also have, for when the IID Tool can't get you to a garage). It's been the most useful tool I've ever invested in, over the years it's proven its worth more than gold (or a fat wallet!).
Only yesterday it saved the day, when one of the rear parking sensors threw a wobbly due to the arctic temperatures we're currently experiencing and the PDC system quit working. Got the trusty IID Tool out, reset the fault on the PDC and all working again as it should.
IID Tool? Total value for money! Thumbs Up

I use mine for:

- fault checking/clearing
- fiddling with settings like ride heights, dashboard (like you’ve already done)
- logging parameters, e.g. gearbox solenoids and torque converter lockup, to check all is well

Mainly keep it for faults and for service resets, fuel pump priming for the FBH etc.

In terms of CCF changes, the useful ones I find are:

- DRLs - these in my opinion actually look really good and make the car seem a bit more modern. You can have them on, without needing the tail lights and sidelights on.

- MPH/KMH digital readout

- if not already configured, have the seat drop down on ignition off and door open, just like the steering wheel retracts?

- Unlock all doors on ignition off. This is one of the big gripes of many owners, and turns out this is possible (I recently set it) 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Set mpg offset back to 0%
Set new tyre size if you are running non standard sizes - the last 2 values in the CCF
Do a guided height calibration to take account of wear in the suspension over the years or if components have been recently changed.
Update the gearbox software using the paid feature.
Setup custom live value sets for things like DPF so you can quickly monitor parameters if needed. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Gary RR - what’s the CCF setting for unlocking the doors? I had a look in the CCF file earlier and couldn’t see anything that looked like it, but know how these things can be termed under spurious names. I’ve assumed it’s under the BCM menu? Andy

Here's how to enable unlock on ignition off (copied from my earlier post):

Turns out it is (now) possible, so long as you ask the right question:

It turns out you CAN get rid of one of the most annoying features on this car and have the doors unlock when you turn the engine off (note it might not work on pre 2010 cars).

So, the option doesn't appear in the standard CCF list so at some point you must have been given access to the entire CCF list.

After asking GAP again but this time to be granted access to the full CCF catalogue, sure enough, the option is hidden in there.

So, anyone wanting this and with an IID needs to write to GAP and request the access then, your CCF list will appear with this new option (basically the entire catalogue and not tested to make sure it does or doesnt work on your model so, be extra careful touching anything in here):

Then perform a search because there's hundreds of values in the catalogue. Select this one:

Change to Enabled and follow the procedure.

Warning to anyone who hasn't done a CCF change before, frightening things happen. Don't worry. Don't disconnect the tool or let the phone sleep whilst performing all the actions. Once completed, you will get lots of ECU errors on the driver display. Turn the ignition off, lock the car and leave it for 2 or 3 minutes so all ECUs go to sleep. Return and turn on the ignition, reconnect the IID and clear all fault codes and then use the car as normal. You'll need to set things like the clock, audio settings, speed warning, forward alert etc again.


The 'door unlock at engine off' feature seems to be quite clever when I tested it. It will only unlock the doors if they were previously locked by the 'drive away locking' feature. If you locked the doors manually with the dash button, when you turn the engine off, it knows this and keeps the doors locked for you. Very clever! 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Anybody changed the annoying headlight washers working same time as windscreen when headlights are on?
Is it possible to switch this off?

Not seen it in the standard CCF. Mine washes every 5th cycle of the screen wash which seems reasonable. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
