Ceramic coating

Hi chaps
When I bought my l322 3 years ago I had a full Williams ceramic coating done (mainly because they machine polish it first)
I thought that it was a bit of “snake oil” if you know what I mean.
But I have to say, after 3 years, I’ve never waxed the car, I just wash and leather it down, and it looks like brand new!
Very shiney
So, as we are in France, and there are no valet places anywhere near us, is this something you can do yourself?
My friend has a 2015 l405, and it’s parked outside all year (40’ heat in the summer, -15’ in the winter, his paintwork looks crap! He is not the most able person, so as a Xmas gift I thought I might have a go at it for him.
Any thoughts?

You can do these detailimg and protection things yourself SFM. Will take a day or two to do the car fully and properly, ie prep it before you apply the coating…

The biggest issue I have found with ceramic detailing products is the ease of use.

Last year, I switched to Chemical Guys for all four of my cars. The process is:

- Use the Clean Slate product to wash
- Clay bar the car using clay bar lubricant
- Machine polish - this will depend on how bad the paintwork is
- Use the Wipe Out product to clean any residue
- Use Hydrocharge Ceramic Coating
- Top with HydroSlick (wait 3 hours before doing this), leave to cure for 50% less than stated unless you are somewhere really cold
-Maintain with HydroSpeed.

In all it's costly to buy all these products, but since i have to maintain four cars, it makes sense.
