NM, worked it out. Seems like when you disconnect the battery you need to ensure you have a full tank of fuel to ensure the gauge calibrates correctly. The issue I faced was that when the filter was replaced and the battery was disconnected, the ECU then reset so that when the tank was full, the gauge only read 3/4. Anyhow all solved now.

That's weird, changed mine on my 2012 S/C with a near empty tank and the gauge worked fine when reconnected, the seal was fine as well... maybe the seal is because it's colder here and it doesn't expand so much in use...
