I've only researched this online - have not committed as yet. I would suggest a simple display such as speed only. Some of the HUDs are quite tacky and have more lights than a Christmas tree.

Salisbury, I agree with the mass of unnecessary information some display. I want speed only.

I have a factory fit one in my 640d …. I switch it off. It’s annoying more than it is useful once you get past the gimmick of it personally. I certainly would not be looking to after fit one , just don’t think it would be useful. V8 or else ... |

Just more evidence of how we're all different. Previously I'd have never spec'd HUD in an options list, but it was on the car when I bought it and having had it for a couple of years, now don't like being without it in other cars. Its great to have speed there without glancing down...but I also like the limit, cruise, and next junction flashing up when they become relevant. Certainly worth it for me. Mike - MPx

I retrofitted a factory HUD dash to my 13MY L405 and fitted a cheap aftermarket £30-£40 HUD in the JLR box under the dash... Its a large black box with several mirrors inside. I believe through some form of witchcraft, the mirrors somehow take away the double/treble images you get from the aftermarket systems and the reason why you use the sticker on the windscreen... My wife now owns my old RR and loves the HUD system just like i did... Hope that helps |

Mine is factory fitted, I love it, would never buy a car without it. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue |

No harder than changing a dash and a little fabrication of the HUD box to take an aftermarket solution… |
