Not covered by Land Rover Warranty ?

Hi All,

My car is booked in for service this Friday, I bought this car from the same dealer in March with a Land Rover Warranty and this is the first service since then.

As requested I gave them a (short) list of things other than the service that is needed. The remote FBH isn't connecting, I have noticed that the electronic rear brake actuator covers are cracked and that both the 'N's front and back are discolored on the logos.

The dealer has said that the actuator's cover being cracked and the badges are not covered.

Is this correct?

I am very surprised by the handbrake actuators I must say, perhaps not so the badges but thought I'd ask the forum.

Perhaps even though they are cracked the actuators are covered but only when they fail ?

Interested in other people's experiences and views!

Maybe they consider the cracked covers as cosmetic, in which case they aren't covered...

Got to be worth an argument though, ask to see the dealer principle and moan a lot... Thumbs Up Pete

We had both our hand brake motors replaced under extended warranty due to cracked covers, dealers told us is really common and if you don’t change them the water ingress ends up resulting in a new motor & calliper. I watched them do it, it’s literally a bolt and a plug!

They have refused a few things due to corrosion, which is the issue for the brake actuators cracking IMO. When we did a friends it’s actually the aluminium calliper that corrodes and then splits the case. But likewise we had new coolant lines from front to back that had rubbed / corroded through near the rear wheel so there really is no logic to what’s accepted / denied in my experience. Probably all down to the dealers wording…. Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Thanks for all the replies, interesting that you got them replaced under warranty - much of it appears to be down to the dealer by the look of it Shocked

I will let them know my thoughts and see what they say.

I guess not many drivers would even look to get them replaced so I will push it I think and see what they say.

Any idea of the cost for a pair ?

Thanks

For ours the part was LR036573, the approval email doesn’t provide costs just says 1/2 hour labour for both sides.

We paid £91 a side for Genuine items off eBay for a friends and literally 10 minutes a side inc cleaning up the corrosion on the calliper and treating them, which is doubt a main dealer would do, you don’t need to jack the car and from memory it 1/2 bolts a side hence the 1/2hour labour. Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Thanks for the information - I'll see if I can get them to do it - if not I'll do it - it will save problems later and potentially more work and cost !!!

Thanks !

Just be aware if you attempt it yourself you’ll need the car in brake service mode or what ever it’s called, I did it with SDD but I’m sure you can do it without just need to know the combo the service manual is in the Wiki Thumbs Up Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8
